ELECTRIC RACING LEAGUE

fpv drones, live stream, marketing campaign

About the project

Sky Perth collaborated with the Electric Racing League to create a riveting promotional video for an event at Elizabeth Quay in the heart of Perth City. The project included capturing extensive footage day and night using advanced drone technology. The main goal was to highlight the pulse and energy of the racing event, the participants, and the picturesque setting of Elizabeth Quay.

On the day of the event, the team used First Person View (FPV) drones to live stream the race, capturing the competitors, the spectators’ excitement, and the event’s overall vibe. This was a pioneering venture, as Sky Perth became the first company in Australia to gain approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to operate FPV drones near people and operate Beyond the Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drones at Class 1 level.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Achieved Goals

The project’s success can be attributed to the meticulous planning process, which included comprehensive meetings and storyboard sessions to understand the client’s vision fully. Additionally, effective team communication, facilitated by wireless headsets, was crucial in overcoming the challenges posed by operating drones close to the audience and possible signal issues.

One of the significant hurdles was securing the necessary permits to operate drones in such a populated area. Despite these challenges, the Sky Perth team successfully captured the essence of the racing event, delivering a compelling promotional video that encapsulates the race’s thrill, the crowd’s exuberance, and the beauty of Elizabeth Quay.
