About the project

It was a ground-breaking moment in sporting history when Optus Stadium announced it was hosting the 2021 AFL Grand Final. It was the first AFL grand final to be held in Perth and only the second to take place outside of Melbourne, after Brisbane hosted the 2020 final at the Gabba.

As part of the Australian Football League’s (AFL) promotional strategy to host the event in Perth for the first time in history, we were engaged to produce an incredible glimpse of the Optus Stadium on Whadjuk Noongar Land.

After receiving a detailed and specific brief from the AFL production team, we got to work flying some incredibly tight lines. Using an FPV Drone, we toured the entire venue, even between the seats, in one take. Coupled with the media legend Dennis Cometti, as he calls his last ever AFL game, it was a truly emotional film.
