I am humbled and thrilled to announce that one of my photographs has been chosen as the main visual to invite and attract people to the ‘Under the Same Sun’ event at Perth Festival 2024. This event, slated for March 2 at the beautiful Supreme Court Gardens, marks the closing of the vibrant festival.
‘Under the Same Sun’ is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of nature, nurture, and the harmonious bond between mothers and the sun, expressed through the powerful medium of music. A host of talented artists alongside the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Festival Artistic Director Iain Grandage, will grace the stage, promising a joyful musical experience for all attendees1.
The photograph, portraying the peaceful Perth city skyline at sunset with the Supreme Court Gardens in the forefront, symbolises the unity and the serene essence the event hopes to encapsulate. It’s an honour to think that my work will serve as a visual beckon, inviting individuals to come together and celebrate the simple yet profound connections among us.
Being part of such a community-centric celebration is not just about the recognition but about contributing to a collective narrative that values art, culture, and shared human experiences. It’s a reminder of the impactful role that visual art can play in narrating the story of such meaningful gatherings.
I invite everyone to join us on March 2 to revel in the joy of community, music, and the simple beauty of shared moments under the same sun.
